Olsson and Ortega to lead offensive transitions webinar

Top coaches Staffan Olsson and Carlos Ortega will take part in a moderated coaching talk exploring how top international teams structure their offensive transition game, how decision-making is shaped under time pressure, and how coaches can adapt their strategies depending on team level, available facilities, and opponents’ substitution patterns.

Participants at the free webinar will be able to ask questions, looking at issues such as the principles guiding a team’s first and second wave in transition, tactical adjustments depending on opponents, and how to structure and define the different moments of a transition game.

Olsson and Ortega both bring years of experience to the webinar. Ortega won the EHF Champions League Men six times as a player for Barça, and after retirement moved into coaching. He has been head coach for Barça since 2021, leading the team to two more Champions League titles.

Staffan Olsson won the EHF EURO four times and IHF World Championship twice as a player for Sweden, along with three Olympic silver medals and three more World Championship medals. Since 2022 he has been head coach for the Netherlands’ men’s national team.
