The event at the W17 EHF Championship in Kosovo followed sessions with the same programme taking place at the Women’s 19 EHF EURO 2025, Women’s 19 EHF Championship 2025 and Women’s 17 EHF EURO 2025. Both of the EURO tournaments were held in Montenegro, while the W19 EHF Championship took place in Georgia.
24 young talents took part in the W17 EHF Championship event, adding to the total of 290 in the previous three.
Including Martin, eight RYT ambassadors — all stars of the sport who have taken at least one major title each — were involved across the four days of Player of the Match events in July and August. The other seven were long-time RYT ambassadors Ana Gros, Anja Althaus, Andrea Lekic and Katarina Bulatovic, and newcomers Katrine Lunde, Anna Vyakhireva and Barbara Arenhart.
Martin was enthusiastic about the interaction she had with the players.
“It all went really well, at the beginning it was a little bit difficult to break the ice with the girls, but then I started asking them questions and making them pass the ball between each other about their concerns on all the things that we’d been talking about — nutrition, and media, and dual career,” she said.
Martin said the concept of a dual career was of particular interest.
“Many of them want to become professional handball players, which is a goal and is really good, but they are not thinking at the same time of how important it is to study. I made a strong point about that, because of course they are not going to survive for the rest of their days with the money that handball is going to give them — if they succeed as handball players,” she explained.
She revealed the young players were also keenly interested in Martin’s training and nutrition regime when she was a player, as well as how to manage the process of moving abroad and joining a professional club.
“It was really productive and I really liked the questions the girls had. I hope they got a good feeling too and a good impression,” she concluded.
