Karalek’s heroic shot brings Kielce their third win, Sporting prolong the streak
An injury-ridden Industria Kielce came back in the first half and produced probably their most consistent attacking performance of the season against Kolstad, 33:32, while Veszprém HC won their fourth match of the season, 34:32, against Fredericia.
Sporting CP extended their run without a loss to five matches with a dramatic, high-octane win against Füchse Berlin, 35:33, with the German side playing without goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev and top scorer Mathias Gidsel. PSG also mounted a comeback against Dinamo in the last 10 minutes to take a 35:33 win, while Orlen Wisla Plock secured their maiden win of the season, with a defensive masterclass against Eurofarm Pelister, 26:18.
Today’s match was very difficult for me. When, as a coach, you lose a player – whether it’s your own player or the opponent – it’s always a terrible feeling. We know this is part of our sport, but no one likes to see these scenes. I’m very proud of my team! We didn’t play well, we weren’t focused enough, but perhaps Yehia ElDeraa’s injury also had an impact on us. What matters to me is how my team showed their commitment to the club and how we fought until the end. We are going through a difficult period, playing a lot of matches, and we will have to rest some players. Today, we lost a great person, possibly for the entire season. I am not satisfied, but once again, I am very proud of my team.
First of all, we would like to thank Veszprém for this match and also congratulate them on their victory. I am proud of my team, because they played great handball today against an incredibly strong Veszprém team. Our defense and performance on the goal were good today, and we were organized in the attack as well. We took advantage of our opportunities and followed the tactical aspects as well. I saw my team fight hard, which resulted in a very close game. It is not easy to play in such an atmosphere and in front of such fans. I've been here before, the fans were great then, but since then it only got better. Overall, I am satisfied, as we produced an outstanding game.
It was a high intensity game between two great teams. It really is a pleasure to compete in an atmosphere like this. All European games are difficult, but with our fans backing us up today, we managed to secure the win in the end.
Congrats to Paris, and thanks to our fans as it really was an amazing match. We played well throughout the biggest part of the game, but we decreased our level for about ten minutes which is something that can happen when playing against a team like this. Despite that, we are proud of ourselves as we gave it our eveything!
Congrats to my team! We finally managed to win the points we've worked so hard for. We're really happy about this win, especially after those unfortunate losses against Paris and Berlin. Good match from start to finish I'd say. Congrats to our opponents as well, I wish them all the best.
Congrats to Wisla on being a better team out there today, dominating the court throughout the full course of the game. We started off badly, later on committing way too many turnovers which made it absolutely impossbiel for us to get back into this one.
A tough game against first-placed team in the German Bundesliga. This is the Champions League, and it is clear you have to suffer to win games, but I feel like we did very well. We are motivated to compete against the best!
It was a tough match in which both teams defended well. while at the same time delivering on the attacking side of the court as well. Fast-paced match in which we were making too many mistakes in those key moments giving them a chance to take the lead. We have to find a way to be better in those crucial moments of the game. It was a tough one, but also a fun one to play.
Going into the game, we were aware how good Kielce's defense is, and that we can't afford to make mistakes against it as they will know how to take advantage of them. We struggled trying to defend Karalek who is an amazing player, and has great communication with their backs. However, we've got to be happy about the progress we made following the game against Nantes, although it it hard to feel happy at this moment.
Difficult game for both teams, as we're dealing with some injuries at the moment, and I feel like we were in the end 1% luckier than Kolstad to get that last-second goal.
