SUMMARY: Draw in MOTW; Barça and Veszprém stay top of group
The group phase of the Machineseeker EHF Champions League 2023/24 continued with round 8 this week, featuring three matches on Wednesday — including Paris Saint-Germain HB and Kolstad Handball playing to a 28:28 draw in the Match of the Week — and five on Thursday. Barça became the first team to book a place in the knockout stage with their victory over Plock.
We took the match seriously, defended well, and ran a lot. I think when we play handball in such good form, we are unstoppable. But the whole team performed well.
It was a tough game back-to-back in one week. We had pressure at the beginning because we wanted to win. We made a lot of mistakes and we kept fighting and next minutes we make a differences. In that atmosphere at home we have it is plesure to win
I’m very happy to get two points. It’s very important for us — we need every point. It’s not easy to win here in Odense. Our start on the game was the key to our victory today.
We demonstrated great character for 60 minutes. Not so many teams will take points here in Paris, so it is a good performance from us. I am personally disappointed with the two penalties I missed. But it was a really fun handball game to play with a lot of tempo and I think the one point for each team is fair tonight.
We were better in defence today than last week, but in the end it wasn’t the result expected for us. We have to work on it and change our mind for the next big match [against Montpellier HB] which awaits us this weekend in the French championship.
We were totally away from the game in the first half and were not aggressive enough. Therefore, we are really happy that we managed to change the game and get one point.
