Top-of-table derbies headline penultimate group matches round

Featured in the highlight matches this round are two top-of-table Balkan derbies. In group F, MRK Sesvete Triglav osiguranje, enjoying their strongest EHF European League season so far, host table leaders HC Vardar 1961.

In group H, the only one with all four teams having won a match and therefore the tightest in terms of places in the next stage, RK Partizan AdmiralBet meet RK Nexe.

MRK Sesvete Triglav osiguranje (CRO) vs HC Vardar 1961 (MKD)

• Sesvete count five points thanks to two victories and one draw, which represents their best group matches campaign yet; they took only two points on their first participation, in 2024/25
• the clubs had never met in a European cup competition prior to this season; Vardar won the reverse leg in round 1 34:29
• Sesvete line player Zlatko Raužan is among the leading scorers of the season, with 32 goals, while Vardar are led by left back Dmytro Horiha, on 28 — the two combined for 16 goals in the first mutual encounter
• should Vardar take the win, they will move up to eight points and will be sure of main round progression

RK Partizan AdmiralBet (SRB) vs RK Nexe (CRO)

• Nexe are the group leaders with five points following two victories, one draw and one loss
• that loss occurred two rounds ago, versus Kadetten, who Nexe beat in round 4; both matches had final score lines of just one goal
• Partizan have won twice and lost twice, accumulating four points; they enter this round on the back of one of those defeats, to Abanca Ademar Leon
• Partizan’s other loss was in the group matches opener against Nexe, with the Croatian side winning 30:22 at home; that match was the first mutual clash ever
• Nexe could book a place in the main round with a victory, after missing progression from the European League group matches for the first time last season; Partizan are in their debut EHF European League season
